Is there real life post-softener?

After less than a week without a water softener it’s really starting to show! Admittedly, the softener was on its way out before it was disconnected and sent away, so we’ve had less softening than we should for a while, but still, the dramatic change in what comes out of the dishwasher in the last few days has me flabbergasted! If there was ever a reason for a water softener in Kent then this is it. (See picture of tea cups.) We can’t wait for the softener to be returned and put back into action so that we can get back to chalk free showers and sinks, crust-free taps and clean cups!

Yuk!

There is a back story to this as well. The deal with the repairer was that we would send the softener back to them at the right time to minimise our use of hard water – we were off to Edinburgh for a few days and that would mean less water used (and less hard water damage) while the softener was being repaired. Well, that plan fell apart when ParcelForce didn’t turn up to collect it as requested. We left it with our neighbours the next day when we were leaving as the supplier said maybe they’ve been delayed. There was no communication from ParcelFarce at all, so in the end that collection was cancelled and another setup for the day after we arrived home (our neighbours were now on holiday themselves). That collection worked thank goodness, it just meant the likely 2 to 3 days use of water without a softener has turned into 6 to 7 days. Oh, well, nothing to be done about that, just have to remember not to use ParcelFarce for any important deliveries in the future.
