As is the norm nowadays I’ve spent time perusing the pages of Amazon, and doing lots of thinking about what to buy. In both our cases it was apparent that portability was not now a high priority, being retired and at home mostly, so desktop machines would do just fine and we’d avoid the portable PC premium. Ok, so decided on a Mac Mini for me and a mini PC for Jane. Best prices of the required specification items found and being bought, but I delayed a bit as it was becoming apparent that we were heading towards good old Black Friday and lower prices. Hooray! BUT, and here’s the strange thing, prices are going up quite dramatically. The monitor I bought for Jane for £90 is now £150 and going up. This was a surprise as I thought that prices would go down in an attempt to woo BF delayers like me.
So, is this in an attempt to be able to say “lower than average price in the last month” on Black Friday, or is it something like import tariffs starting to bite? I suspect the former, so I’ll just bide my time and wait for the (phoney, but real, if you see what I mean) Black Friday offers – no rush, I’ll just pinch Jane’s monitor until then! – and save a few pennies when the time comes (after all this is all virtually free to me – and more on that teaser later… 😉).
Creeping up…..
