Just occasionally I spend some time at Margate’s Drapers Windmill showing visitors around. Today was one of those days and I thoroughly enjoyed showing a young family and a couple around the mill. Without the hordes we had last weekend we all enjoyed wandering through the mill anywhere the fancy took us and at a pace that suited us. I always try to keep things easy and enjoyable for the visitors and with a largely empty mill that’s quite easy.

Unfortunately, today was the last day for general open public visits as the ‘winter holiday’ is now upon us. Time for the mill to have a well earned rest and have a bit of recuperation and rejuvenation performed on it by the team of volunteers and the team of mill wrights. It’ll be ready again next year to show the world what old, sustainable engineering could still do to feed the world!
