As you know, we joined the Green Party recently after becoming, like many others, disenchanted with the Labour Party. We’ve become involved with the local party and are helping out. But then a local reform district councillor misbehaved and went to prison, meaning a by-election was on the cards. I went and got enthused by going on the massive Together march in London – so good to be surrounded by like minded people! Back home and we were on to leafleting houses in the constituency. The buzz was good and getting better. Zack came down before the election to enthuse us, giving a talk in WhereElse and then on the beach. Rob Yates, our candidate had an uphill struggle as this is a Reform stronghold. Election day was manic. The call was that it was a 50/50 thing… And the count wasn’t until the next day, so tension was high as we waited over the morning. And Rob WON!! Beat Reform by 17%! What a turn around. So much so that Zack came down to congratulate and celebrate. A rally on the beach where Zack and Rob thanked all, then off to a nightclub, the Margate Art Club to celebrate. We were all buzzing from the success!
And then the very right wing president of Hungary, Victor Orban, was defeated in an election!!! The world is turning left! 😁
